ZEROBASEONE, embarks on a two-and-a-half-year journey.
Nine rookie idols who were chosen by viewers from 184 countries have come together under the name ZeroBaseOne (ZEROBASEONE). These individuals will embark on a 2-year and 6-month project journey, starting their debut activities with a bold ambition to “make new history in K-pop.”
ZeroBaseOne is a team formed through the Mnet idol survival program ‘Boys Planet,’ which concluded in April. It consists of the members Seong Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Jang Hao, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, Ricky, Kim Kyubin, Park Geonwook, and Han Yujin, who received the most votes from viewers.
Among the members, Jang Hao and Ricky are from China, while Seok Matthew is Canadian. The team name signifies “a bright beginning of nine members starting from zero and becoming one.”
On the 10th, at 2 p.m., they held their first mini-album showcase titled ‘Youth in the Shade’ at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, officially announcing their debut.
ZeroBaseOne is a project boy group from Mnet, following in the footsteps of Wanna One and X1. The project period is set to be 2 years and 6 months. Their debut album pre-orders have surpassed 1.08 million copies, marking the first time a K-pop group’s debut album has exceeded 1 million pre-orders. This demonstrates the explosive interest from K-pop fans towards ZeroBaseOne.
Jang Hao, who claimed the top spot during the survival program, expressed his thoughts, saying, “Thanks to the fans, we have already achieved remarkable records even before our debut. We will repay their love by working hard during our debut activities.” When asked about their goals, he confidently replied, “We will create a style that only ZeroBaseOne can show, becoming our own brand and genre.” He also added, “We will make new history in K-pop by setting unprecedented records.”
