On the 15th (Korean time), a short video titled “When a restaurant becomes a Korean dance club” was uploaded on the video platform TikTok.
The video shows guests at a restaurant in Arizona, USA singing along to the song “Cupid” by FIFTY FIFTY. One guest doing the dance move where they pretend to shoot an arrow catches the viewer’s attention.
“Cupid” is the first single by FIFTY FIFTY, released on February 24th and ranked 34th on the UK Official Singles Chart “Top 100” on the day of the video’s release. Since entering the chart at number 96, the song has continued to climb, rising 62 steps in just three weeks.
The song is also popular in the United States. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart only four months after its release and achieved the second success of entering the top 10 on the Spotify Daily US chart, following the group Blackpink, which was also released on the 13th.
“Cupid” is a song that honestly expresses one’s feelings after being rejected in a confession. A netizen’s quickly edited video of the English version of the song’s pre-chorus caught the attention of overseas fans on TikTok.
FIFTY FIFTY did not expect such fervent support from overseas fans. They recently revealed at a press conference, “We thought it was a good song that would eventually do well because we liked it, but we didn’t expect it to do this well.”
