BTS’s Jungkook achieved a remarkable feat at the ‘2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA)’ by winning two awards: ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best K-Pop.’ Jungkook, who had the most nominations for a Korean solo artist in ‘2023 MTV EMA,’ secured victory in both categories, making him the first Korean solo artist to claim a double title at the event. He won the ‘Best Song’ award for his solo single ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ and added the ‘Best K-Pop’ trophy to his collection. Jungkook’s achievements set new records, and he prevailed over formidable contenders, including Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.
In the ‘Best Song’ category, Jungkook’s single ‘Seven’ emerged as the victor, marking the first time a K-Pop solo artist has claimed this prestigious title. The only previous K-Pop group to win in this category was BTS in 2020 for their hit ‘Dynamite.’
Additionally, Jungkook received the ‘Best K-Pop’ award, solidifying his status as one of the top K-Pop artists of the year. The ‘Best K-Pop’ category was introduced in 2019, and until 2021, BTS had won it three times, making them the most decorated artist in this category.
Meanwhile, TXT (Tomorrow X Together) also made their mark at ‘MTV EMA’ by winning the ‘Best Push’ category. This marks their second consecutive win at the event, as they previously took home the ‘Best Asia Act’ award last year. The ‘Best Push’ category recognizes artists who have been selected for the ‘MTV PUSH’ campaign and are among the most promising artists in the global music market. This year, 12 groups of musicians from various genres, such as pop, R&B, hip-hop, and drill, competed for the title, with TXT claiming the honor.
