It has been revealed that K-pop stars have swept up eight out of the ten best-selling albums (physical and digital) in the complex global market.
According to the ‘Global Album Sales’ chart released annually by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on the 28th, BTS’s ‘Proof’ ranked second based on last year’s sales figures.
The Global Album Sales chart aggregates physical album sales and the number of paid full album downloads worldwide, including all CDs, vinyl LPs, and other physical formats.
Stray Kids’ ‘Maxident’ ranked fourth, Seventeen’s ‘Face the Sun’ fifth, and ENHYPEN’s ‘MANIFESTO: DAY 1’ sixth.
Following these, Blackpink’s ‘Born Pink’ ranked seventh, Stray Kids’ ‘Oddinary’ eighth, Seventeen’s ‘SECTOR 17’ ninth, and Tomorrow x Together’s ‘Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ tenth.
The top spot went to Zhou Jie Lun’s ‘Greatest Works of Art,’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ ranked third.
BTS, in particular, has recorded ‘Top 5’ for three consecutive years on this chart.
